For the record, I’m not bashing anyone, I think it’s great when people follow their passions, after all I am! However, when you’re looking for a photographer compare apples to apples, puhleease! So here we have it. I’ll be daring and show you a bit of my process, so you can be educated as to what actually goes on. …wait before I go further. I read a great comment from another photographer…”no one should be without portraits, there’s lots of photographers at many different price points. so money should never be an excuse.” So here’s what you have when you pay me.

A little different extensive work, a little more punchy, my favorite for this photograph. After all kids are bright and happy…most of the time. :)

AND the black and white process. This black and white I would NEVER process! It’s just a 100% desaturated image, looks like something you’d get from a one hour place. (no offense, I used to work at one)

The REAL deal black and white. How I normally process images into black and whites.You know, there’s something to be said for images not overworked but pleasingly enhanced. Just sayin.

Btw, this is lil sis. Her eyes I did NOT touch/enhance. When you get the light and the focus right they’re beautiful like this, which unfortunately I’m not always so lucky to get, but I sure do try!

So, seriously. I NEVER EVER EVER give away free sessions, except sometimes to charity auctions. However, some of you have mentioned that you would like to help me prepare the new studio for the move. As a reward for your kindness, if you feel inclined to help I will be starting this Friday at 10am and will be there all day, except for lunch, until 4pm. Now, I know many of you work and there may possibly be a Saturday that I’ll be painting, if so I’ll post it. At any rate, those able, ready, and willing, come enjoy some fellowship and get your free session! ONLY requirement is that you have to help for a minimum of 2 hours. :) Also, free session is ONLY valid until the end of the year.

One is seeing all of your kiddos “first day of school” photos. I read in the Parents magazine that it’s a good idea to take one on the first day of school and one at the last, to see how much they change over the school year. You better believe it will be routine for Sadie Mae…stand at the door, hang your bag on the door knob. Kinda like this one of me…

I think this was actually field day, but I love it anyway. Styling and profiling in my visor. I sure hope it was field day, otherwise I’m not sure what my excuse would be for the visor. haha! And just to prove a point…Sadie Mae does favor me just a little…these are a few more of me. Excuse the quality. Couldn’t find my scanner so I took pictures of  pictures under not so great lighting conditions.Yo Mom, what’s up with the Farrah hair and glasses?…wait the Farrah hair is kinda cool. I was about 4 months here (the size of Sadie now at over a year).Me and my cousin Brianna. I’m apparently on the “go” maybe I see where Sadie gets it from now.Lastly, nothing like a good Polaroid. Btw, they’re coming out with a new one, can’t wait to get my hands on one! I absolutely LOVE looking back at my photographs as a child, and your kids will enjoy it one day too, so be sure to snap away!

This heat in the South is killin! This session was a MESS. Thankfully you can’t tell it from the photographs. My sweet girl’s face was so red once we finally finished and my niece Molly was on edge and she’s not a complainer! She loves having her picture made, but was ready to be back in the car, so unlike her. Although I was a bit discouraged by the heat I will attempt a few mini-sessions over the weekend for those of you interested. The temp is supposed to be 10 degrees cooler! I have 7 spots available. Kelleigh and Morgan’s love story has been quite a few years in the making, but soon and very soon it will be “official.” Two peeps who always thought they’d elope, have found themselves smitten by the beauty of the Inn and the thoughts of sharing their love with an intimate number of family and friends, while ringing in the new year. We could only hope for a light, very light, dusting of snow.
